Natural Multiplexing in very small CMOS architecture.

In  Quanta Image Sensor: Possible paradigm shift for the futureEric Fossum points out the issue of sub-diffraction limits with increasingly smaller pixels. At the state of the art of 900 nm, we already have that problem even with good lenses.

How bad is it becoming when you go from 900 nm to 200/100 nm as in the QIS architecture ?
 This bad!

It is not just the QIS architecture that is affected, any imaging done with these pixel lengths will experience the same issues. The remedy ? either we need to change the lens concept or we need to use the concepts of multiplexing central in compressive sensing.

And then there is another source of mixing coming from another side of the physics:

All opportunities!
